Dennis Weaver graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1992 where he was inducted into the Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi. Mr. Weaver received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1995. Mr. Weaver focuses his practice on pharmaceutical drug litigation, environmental litigation, nursing home abuse, motor vehicle accidents and fraud. He has litigated cases involving defectively designed vehicles, including lift buckets, car haulers and passenger cars. His litigation experience also includes cases involving the violation of constitutionally protected rights by municipal employees and claims against entities that negligently design and construct roadways. Mr. Weaver recently served as co-lead counsel in the successful resolution of the largest financial elder abuse case in the history of the State of Alabama. Mr. Weaver has been a dedicated advocate of victim’s rights and has had several published opinions relating to victim’s rights law and government liability. He is also a charter member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association. In 2003, Mr. Weaver received the Frank Carrington Champion of Civil Justice Award recognizing extraordinary efforts in seeking civil justice for victims of crime. In 2005 he was voted “Best of the Bar” for his work in the field of crime victims’ rights by his fellow lawyers. This award was sponsored by the Birmingham Business Journal and published in the September 2, 2005 edition. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 Mr. Weaver was selected to Super Lawyers Mid-South, a peer reviewed recognition reserved for the top 5% of practicing attorneys in the Mid-South Region. In 2011 and 2012 Mr. Weaver was selected for inclusion on the Alabama Super Lawyers list published by Alabama Super Lawyers magazine and Business Alabama. Only the top 5% of Alabama attorneys are chosen for this recognition each year. From 2010-2012 Mr. Weaver was named as one of “The City’s Top Legal Minds” by B-Metro Magazine and honored as one of Alabama’s Rising Stars by Super Lawyers 2010 and Business Alabama magazine. He is also co-author of a book titled Personal Injury Law: An Overview for Alabama Accident Victims which was published in 2010. Most recently he was selected for membership in The National Trial Lawyers – Top 100 Trial Lawyers. The partners in Weaver Tidmore, L.L.C. are members of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum recognizing attorneys who have won million and multimillion dollar verdicts, awards and settlements. Mr. Weaver has had numerous settlements or verdicts in excess of one million dollars including a recent 9.3 million dollar verdict in a wrongful death suit in Baldwin County, Alabama. Mr. Weaver is currently licensed to practice law in the States of Alabama, Minnesota, Mississippi and West Virginia. He is also admitted to practice before the federal courts of Alabama, Minnesota, Mississippi, West Virginia, Wyoming and the Southern District of New York. Memberships include the Birmingham and Alabama Bar Associations, Alabama Trial Lawyers Association (Committee Chairman, 1997, Sustaining Member 2003-present), Minnesota Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association, West Virginia Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (Propulsid and Rezulin Litigation Groups, Advocate – National College of Advocacy) and National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association. Mr. Weaver serves on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of the Alabama Association for Justice. In 2016 Mr. Weaver was elected to the City Council for Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and has served as Mayor Pro-tempore since that time. He has also served as a member of the Vestavia Hills Planning and Zoning Commission since 2016. In addition to his municipal work, Mr. Weaver serves on multiple volunteer boards and fundraising committees for Vestavia Hills City Schools.
